Rules for Writers Chapter 3

In this chapter we discuss the proper organization of essays.  Sometimes a thesis will bring everything together before you even finish it.  Remember to always keep in mind that often you might not know what you want to say until you have written your draft.   When constructing a thesis sentence, you should always ask yourself whether you can successfully develop it with the sources available to you and for the purpose you've identified. You want to try making sure stay on topic.  When you read over your questions try to think of yourself as the audience and what you would want to know from its good points.

Global revision think big I thought it was a great topic to read.  This topic would be very helpful to anyone who is drafting their essay.  You can always make a checklist for yourself for global revision.  You need to make sure that you know who your audience is.  Begin with a topic sentence that links to the thesis and lays out the content of the paragraph.  This is where you get highly specific, supporting every statement that you make.  And no detail should assume that your reader is familiar with the content of the story.

I plan to use this checklit when I'm developing my essays or thesis.  I will use this in my writings, and to be sure to read everything careful, and slowing.  I will use a technique by reading out loud to see if it makes sense.  I will be sure to revise my draft in an orderly way, making sure the audience understand my draft, and know their perspective.
