"The Insufficiency of Honesty"

What is Carter's definition of integrity?

Carter refers to it like the weather everybody talks about it but nobody knows what to do about it.  He has many definitions to Intergrity.  They come in three steps.

            1.  The first criterio captures the idea that integrity requires a degree of moral reflectiveness.
            2.  The second brings in the ideal of a person of integrity as steadfast, a quality that includes keeping  one's commitments.
            3.  The third remind us that a person of integrity can be trusted.

What does it mean?
Integrity means a steadfast adherence to a strict moral or ethical code.  A also think keeping your integrity would be keeping your good name or maintaing your character.

I do believe what Carter says about intergrity.  Its all up to the individual if he/she has intergrity or can be honest to oneself.  I think it's all how you were raise with morals.

"Shooting Dad"

What accounts for the narrator's struggles with her dad?

The narrator's struggle with her dad was that he loved guns and she did not.  He's a member of the National Rifle Association which is a pretty radical group.  All he cared about was his guns.  She and her father had differences in political views.  She always thought her dad favored her twin sister, amy shared her father's enthusiasm for firearms and the quick-draw cowboy mythology surrounding them.   As I said Gun's are not for me.

As I realized my dad and I are the same person.  We are both smart-alecky loners with goofy projects and weird equipment. And since this whole target practice oting was my idea.   I still feel the same way about guns, I will not be behind the cannon because it represents ceremonial object.  I also realize that my dad and  have a passion for different projects.  As time passes by we are becoming closer.

Rules For Writers Chapter "4"

I really enjoy reading chapter 4, I think it will help me in a lot ways to build effective pargraphs.  My essay's as you see need a lot of help of formatting it correctly.  For instance this chapter showed me just how much goes into a essays.   It is really hard to stick to the main point.  The topic on focus on a main point (pg 40) clearly says this supports the essay's main point.  Another helpful topic I thought helps me to undertand why it is so important to stick with the topic (pg 40-42).  When I gather my information to write the essay I'm always starting with too many ideas in the paragraph.  On (pg 42) it explains a lot how to "not" too be too skimpy when you're trying too be convincing.

About chapter 4 regarding the topic "Choose a suitable patter of organization" (pg44)  This was very helpful to me as well.  When you the use a paragraph of description it states that you have sketch of the person, place, or thing by using concrete and specific ideas.

I plan to use these topics in writing my essays and organizing my ideas in the correct manner.  I have a hard to time expressing my ideals and sticking to one.  So, I find these topics will be valuable tool to me for my next essay.

"Coming Home Again"

Why does his mother regret allowing him to attend boarding school?

The mother regrets her son going to boarding because of their relationship was being torn away from each other.  He was her favorite child, and wanted the best education for him as she had the opportunity to get the best for herself.

He recalls one day when he was washing the rice in the kitchen she had mentioned to him that she made a comment in regards to him attending boarding school.  With regret she said I made a mistake in sending you to boarding school..  He had asked her why did you send me to "Exeter?"  Her answer was "Because I didn't know I was going to die."  Then she said to him you know what it was better for you son.  If you stayed home, you would not like me so much now.

This was a truly love story between mother and son. You want the best for you child and she thought she was doing the right thing for her son.
